Drawing from Concealment Course Addendum for Advanced Handgun Courses
Effective immediately, students are permitted to draw from concealment in Defensive Handgun 2 and above, provided the following conditions are met:
Eligibility Requirements
- Students choosing to draw from concealment are expected to already possess safe, competent draw and reholster technique.
- By choosing to be concealed, students are taking full responsibility for their safety and actions.
- If a student demonstrates unsafe behavior or poor technique while drawing from concealment, they will be asked to leave class without refund. That decision will be considered the natural consequence of their own choice, not a failure of the class or instructors.
Gear Requirements
- Holsters must be:
- Rigid and non-collapsible (no soft-sided or hybrid designs that collapse without the firearm).
- Properly fitted to the specific firearm being used.
- Securely mounted to a quality belt system that prevents shifting during the draw.
- Worn in the front waistband area or strong side only.
Safety Enforcement
- All standard firearm safety rules apply at all times.
- Any student who violates safety protocols (e.g., muzzling themselves or others, unsafe reholstering, negligent trigger discipline) will be immediately removed from the course with no refund.
- If a student is struggling with concealment draw technique or appears unsafe, instructors reserve the right to require the student to switch to OWB strong-side carry or to leave class.
Training Recommendations
- If a student is new to concealment or unsure of their technique, we recommend:
- Scheduling a private lesson with an instructor to review fundamentals and safety.
- Watch for our upcoming Appendix Draw Course, which will focus on safe and effective carry and draw from this position.
Bottom Line
Drawing from concealment can be fast and efficient—but it carries greater risk if done incorrectly. If you choose to carry concealed, do it right. Your safety is your responsibility, and our priority is keeping the entire class safe.
We’re here to help you level up—but you’ve got to meet us at that line, squared away and ready.
